Cumbria Third Sector Census
The Census provides fascinating and useful information about the third sector in Cumbria. It enhances our understanding of the sector and shows how it contributes to, and positively impacts on, the economy and community life of Cumbria.
Census material is essential reading for any group or organisation in the business of selling their services and projects to funders and/or commissioners.
Since 2008, Cumbria CVS has been developing this project using information from Guidestar Data Services UK that relates to registered charities and other charitable organisations (Industrial and Provident Societies, Charitable Companies and Community Interest Companies) across the county.
The Census provides valuable information on number of organisations, income and expenditure, geographic spread, number of trustees, etc.
Cumbria CVS regularly supplements this baseline data with the results of three surveys - Volunteering, Finance and Workforce. For the first time, this gives us a comprehensive and detailed picture of the third sector across Cumbria.
